Has anyone else noticed that the touchpad is really sensitive even with palm detect enabled? Is there anything that we can do to turn down the sensitivity? I didn’t see anything in the touchpad settings.
Do these options fit your requirements?
Setup > User Interface > Input > Touchpad
Here you can configure some things like Acceleration of the interaction with the Touchpad
Thanks @member! That’s where I’m looking. The issue is that I can’t see anything that controls the response on the touchpad itself. I suspect that’s where the `palm detect` option comes in but it doesn’t seem to work. For example, if my palm grazes the touchpad when I’m typing then that will move the position of the cursor.
Hi @member there is a way to disable the touchpad when typing – if it interests you I’ll try and track down the script.
Yes please!
As far as I know this did the trick:
“`syndaemon -i .5 -K -t -R -d“`
For full options see syndaemon -h
Maybe I’ll add this to the OS11 Cheatsheet, if it works well for you
Just checked here on a laptop, definitely works. I’d recommend putting it into something like System > Firmware Customization > Custom Commands > Desktop > Desktop initialization. To increase the delay before the cursor reacts again, increase the value after -i (measured in seconds)
Thank you! I’ll play around with those settings. Did you need to reboot the laptop for the script to work?
If you are putting it in Custom Commands, you’ll need to reboot. But you can test using a Local Terminal windows and it should work immediately
FYI I’m already hearing good things from a user that just received the update. Thanks again @member.
Great to hear!!! 😁
@member something we should look into.
Did the commands above do the trick on this?
I have tried several commands for this, and the best solution for us (Running several different models of HP Probooks) is something @member provided. See below.
mv /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/70-synaptics.conf /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/70-synaptics.conf.disabled
mv /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf.disabled /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf
Thank you @member…
FYI @member… We need to try this command in the XenTegra production test environment. It worked really well in my lab.
It should also be possible to set the userinterface.touchpad.driver registry key to libinput to get the same result.
Great, thanks Stefan!! :-)
Thanks Team! FYI @member
I saw this early and have started deploying! Thanks everyone!
@member – We tested the registry key on a LG Gram and the sensitivity issue came back.
@member I’m using the LG Gram as well. @member’s recommendation has worked well for my end users.
Thank you @member… I will get with @member and try it again. After implementing the registry key do you find that you actually have to click on the the touchpad or will a tap work?
Tap still works
