Hi all, I have a customer who has bought in theapst many IZ3, coded as IZ3-HDX10.
I know that IZ systems are in EOL and EOM, so customer is asking us what will happen to his devices in the next years.
I have searched in the KB but not found that version he has; here kb.igel.com/hardware/en/igel-linux-v-5-igel-os-10-windows-embedded-standard-7-7-and-windows-iot-10-19186020.html the oldest version I found is HDX40.
Can he update his IZ devices without paying anything and without any issue to the version IGEL OS 10.06.130 and IGEL UMS 6.02.100?
Will new versions of this firmware and compatible UMS be release in the next months / years?

Hi Giacomo, to update from IZ to UD will incur a cost. If the hardware is compatible, he will be able to update his devices to IGEL Linux 10 without further cost. I would recommend talking to our Presales department for more information. Have sent you a direct message! 🙂

For IGEL Linux 10, there may be some security fixes, but overall this firmware is now End-of-Life, and development of new features/updates will only be for IGEL OS 11.

As always, the UMS is free of charge, but the new UMS is not compatible with old firmware (2.x, 4.x) and it is recommended to be on the latest version of firmware 5 (5.13.110) before moving to UMS 6

In this case, yes, as long as the hardware is compatible with the latest firmware then he can update without any further costs. However, bear in mind that Linux 10 is EOL and there will no longer be regular firmware updates (e.g. to integrate the latest version of Citrix Receiver).

Base on this DDT, which is the latest version of OS10 and UMS customer can use to everything works correctly? I cannot match the information I have with the table in the link kb.igel.com/hardware/en/igel-linux-v-5-igel-os-10-windows-embedded-standard-7-7-and-windows-iot-10-19186020.html
Hi Giacomo are you able to get me the Product ID from the UMS details? I am not aware of any product that has the Product ID IZ3-HDX10

Giacomo – please be aware that with IZ there are some limits compared to the UD, one of them is when the OS is EOL, with the UD you get FW updates for 3 years. For IZ not. So OS 10 being EOL on 31.07.2019 there will be no new FW for IZ.
Other limits are:
no custom partition for IZ
no 5 year Hardware warranty for IZ
another one I don‘t remember atm 🙂
