How to configure IGEL OS to be scanned through Lansweeper?

Does anyone know or already had any experience which set of command lines need to be set up for the remote user, so that the TC can be scanned through Lansweeper?

I guess the user needs more rights, what is Lansweeper needing? Do you know that?

I think, Lansweeper should have the access on these infos… or more.

Thin Client

• Disks

• Network interfaces

• Manufacturer

• Model

• Memory

• OS

• Processor

• Serial number

• Software

• Uptime

Yes, but do you know how they access it? Do they recommendations on right level / role the user should have?

I’m sure this isn’t within “best practices”, but we simply add the root credentials for our IGEL devices within Lansweeper.

That‘s 100% true Mike, and, yes, root access is what I would try tp avoid🙈

my justification is that it’s a read-only OS, Lansweeper access control permissions are set, and access controls are in place in UMS. I’ve had to use root account for ControlUp as well

Did you tried the ruser @member ?

I did not.

If you would know which files need to get accessed, you could whitelist them for ruser:

kb.igel.com/igelos/en/ssh-access-23501841.html

I mean, I’m not a CISO, but giving root access (even if we speak about a (mostly) readonly system might cause some headache. But if that’s working on your side, all good🙂

just want to be clear that this quickwin is great but I would prefer to have it integrated securely. Will ask our PM what their plans are.

I think, it woud be better and should work via ruser, but for this we have to set the command line, so that Lansweeper can scann all the granted details….

May I have or you know the command lines which I have to set for these details?

• Disks

• Network interfaces

• Manufacturer

• Model

• Memory

• OS

• Processor

• Serial number

• Software

• Uptime

• TC Name

• User Login History

As an example for OS details:

cat /etc/os-release

….

Hi Renusan, it would be the most secured way but there: Lansweeper would have to give that infos since they are executing the commands. Though here are the most known commands, some of them might cover your needs:

ok, will try. Thank you
