How to disable Return to Desktop and Application Selection Screen” in the menu bar of horizon client?

Hi there,

is there a way to deactivate the option “Return to Desktop and Application Selection Screen” in the menu bar of horizon client? I know it is possible to deactivate some options like enabling hevc, but I cant seem to find a registry to disable this specific option.

I want to disable it because I dont want to allow the user to connect other virtual machines once he connected to one vm.

Hi Orhan, could you forward a screenshot? Would it help to disable the Toolbar itself?

Atm I cant forward a screenshot, but I will do it asap. I also tought about disabling the toolbar itself. But how will the user be able to switch between Igel overlay and horizon session?

CTRL WIN D is the hotkey to come back to Desktop if that would help.

Hm would help me, but I dont know if the average user can handle this^^

So I guess there is no other way than creating a fr?

The FR might go better to VMware, because it’s their Client.

OTOH on the connection server you can choose for any user which session they are allowed to see and to start, so they cannot stray from the path.

We already control vm access via ad policies. Problem is a bit complicated but lets just say allowing only one horizon session on an igel device and not multiple could solve some of our problems with igel devices.

If you use the igel control bar instead of the usual horizon client menubar, then your users can switch from fullscreen mode to the IGEL Desktop. It only has a few options (minimize, quit and eject mounted drives) and none are horizon related.

This could be the solution I am looking for. I will try it, thanks @member

Did you find the settings, @member? Didn’t have them handy last time.

In the Registry set _userinterface.igel_toolbar.active_for_wmclass_ to:

_vmware-view_

switch on _userinterface.igel_toolbar.enable_

and switch off _vmware.view.menu-bar._

I didnt try it, because I didnt have time. I will inform you about my result. Thanks @member

No pressure here.

@member Got to test it now, seems good. As I expected. I only have a bar now with closing and minimizing the horizon client. Those two options are enough for the standard user.
