I am having a bit of trouble getting automatic registration to work consistently in our environment. We have an DNS A record for igelrmserver (that is not it’s actual server name) and I have enable automatic registration checked in the UMS. For the first 10 units or so it worked great with no issues (we have about 20 units in our early rollout), now when we factory reset one or bring a new one online it sometimes it auto registers and goes to a staging folder like it is supposed to, but most of the time it just sits at the setup wizard. When it does this you either have to go search for it by IP in the UMS or you cancel out of the wizard and go to UMS Registration on the thin client and just type in igelrmserver it connects to the UMS and if you pull up a terminal windows and ping igelrmserver it gets a reply from the UMS server even before registering.
I have checked with our network team and they do not see any blocks. I have also verified we do not have any duplicates in the recycle bin and I have not seen anything in the catalina logs when these devices are just sitting there waiting after a factory reset. UMS is 6.10.140 and firmware has been 11.08.230-11.08.290 with them just randomly working and other times they just sit there. Any insight into additional places to check either on the client or on the UMS would be greatly appreciated.
6.10.140 has known issue with auto registration
Recommendation is to upgrade to UMS 12
