Hello, we are currently on UMS 6 and we would like to upgrade to COSMOS. currently we do not have any remote clients assigned to the ICG and we would like to remove the ICG & RedHat from our environment due to security risks. would i be able to remove the ICG and RedHat before i move to COSMOS or will i need to still use these if i wanted to setup a Cloud Gateway for remote devices on COSMOS?
What solution is needed for a Cloud Gateway in COSMOS?
I was told the ICG we currently have would need upgraded if we moved to COSMOS, is this only to retain remote functionality on OS11 devices if they were previously linked to the ICG?
I would like to use COSMOS and have the new Cloud Gateway. if i need to upgrade remote devices to OS12 to gain back remote functionality, what would i need to do?
For now there is no upgrade path to OS12, you would have to reinstall the devices with OSC from USB. Upgrade is expected to become available later this year.
ICG is only needed for OS11. OS12 can use it too but you can also decide to go with the new “Cloud Gateway” feature for those devices.
If you upgrade to UMS12 and want to keep your ICG it’s recommended to upgrade to the latest available ICG build.

I think i partially found my answer. i was under the impression that i didnt have to use a unix, linux based OS for the ICG.
my next question is. can i upgrade to Cosmos and upgrade the ICG in order to manage OS12 remote devices while leaving my in house devices intact on OS11?

Yes, you can leave you existing devices on OS 11. UMS 12 can manage both OS 11 and OS 12 devices.
but i can only manage remote devices on OS12 if i upgrade the ICG and to COSMOS correct?
No, you can upgrade ICG and still manage OS 11
It just adds the capability to also manage OS 12 devices
I guess i should rephrase, i know COSMOS works with both OS11 & OS12.
is the new ICG able to communicate with OS11 & OS12?
yes
got it. thank you. i just need to plan out my upgrade now.

Am i not able to upgrade devices from OS11 to OS12 on the fly?
I apologize as i have not been able to watch the Cosmos training yet as i was tasked to do something asap and do not have time to go through the training.
yes, there is no upgrade path today – going from OS11 to OS12 means you have to reinstall from OSC.
Got it. thank you everyone for the COSMOS crash course in 1 hour. lol
